Does driving around the beautiful Suffolk countryside on a gorgeous spring day and exchanging PLAY2DAY and LAZER2DAY leaflets constitute a valid marketing task? Maybe as marketing isn’t always easily measurable, but it was very enjoyable!
Yesterday we started at Westwood Caravan Park near Bucklesham. ‘A family-run, 90 pitch caravan park which provides an excellent range of facilities whilst retaining a friendly and tranquil atmosphere to help you enjoy your stay.’ We have spoken to Caroline a few times, so it was good to meet at last.
Our second stop was Orwell Meadows Leisure Park. ‘Orwell Meadows, established in the late eighties on an 18 acre park is situated against the vast Orwell Country Park and Estuary. Walk the many miles on different routes in unsurpassed beauty.’ They also hold events throughout the spring and summer and there’s a function room too – you can combine your wedding reception with a camping honeymoon!
Next was Felixstowe Beach Holiday Park – a very big park too! ‘On the park you’ll find a great indoor pool complete with water slide for children of all ages! The entertainment venue is perfect for live shows and cabarets.’
Our final stop yesterday was Felixstowe Tourist Information Centre in a great location near the seafront and very helpful too with all the info you need for Suffolk and almost everywhere else too!
Today we started at Forest Camping. ‘ Tangham Campsite is a spacious, level and well drained caravan & campsite of 2.8 hectares set in the heart of Forestry Commission forest, next to the Rendlesham Forest Centre. The forest is fully open for walking and cycling (including marked trails) and you may see fallow deer, squirrels, rabbits and birds.’
Michelle was quietly confident for the season and hopeful that all of her 90 pitches would be occupied at Easter. A great location in the forest and lots to do so maybe you need to book ahead.
Unfortunately no-one was home at Gralyns Caravan Park near Woodbridge so we continued on our journey to Carlton Meres Country Park where I exchanged our leaflets with Christine.
‘There’s no better place to purchase an exclusive leisure lodge, whether you’re looking to settle here permanently, or simply to enjoy idyllic breaks away from the hustle and bustle. Carlton Meres Country Park could provide you with a luxurious home in breathtaking surroundings – your very own doorway to an exhilarating lifestyle that will open your eyes and fill your heart with a sense of achievement and wonder.’
Unfortunately no-one was in at Carlton Park Camping and Caravan site our next stop was at the Cakes & Ale Holiday Park which is worth a visit simply because of its name! Swapped leaflets with Ginny and headed off for our last stop.
We exchanged shiny paper with Chris at Cliff House Caravan Park – ‘Family owned and managed holiday park nestled between popular Aldeburgh and Dunwich with direct access to beautiful, unspoilt private beach frontage. There are pitches for touring caravans, tents and static caravan holiday homes all set in a beautiful, peaceful location. Again, what a great place to be on a sunny day with beautiful sea views.
A most enjoyable two day marketing activty and one I’ll look forward to next year!
