Easter Challenge 2012 – The whole lot blog!

By February 10, 2012 No Comments

29/03/12 Westwood Junior School

Westwood Primary School’s Miss Patterson and Mr Varden

Westwood Primary School were so keen to play their Easter Challenge that they were waiting on their bus when I arrived to unlock Play2Day, 45 minutes before we open!  And efficient too, Miss Patterson had all her pupils so well organised that they were bowling in no time at all. It was the first time we’ve met the smiling Miss Patterson in her lovely purple dress.  I enjoyed listening to her Geordie accent and found it so hard not to say ‘ya’aalreet leik?’ (Don’t worry, I’m sure I didn’t!)

Onto the bowling and with 80 pupils divided into 2 groups; Kierra was the first groups winner with 107 points and Ellie won the second group with 103.

Westwood Primary School Teachers

But it was Mr Varden who needed to get a high score because he’d been challenged to beat Mr Linney’s 109 points and ………he did!  He scored 115 points on his second game.  But Mr Linney only played one game, so do you think a rematch is needed?

Or maybe we should have a Teacher’s Challenge.  Who would win?

Sad to say but that’s about it for this year’s Easter Challenge. Hopefully it’s provided some happy memories and hopefully you’ll all be back next year to do it all again!

If you’d like to give us a little feedback about the Play2Day Easter Challenge or learn more our Indoor Children’s Play Centre, Ten Pin Bowling Centre or Lazer-Tag Arena please check out our website and Facebook.

23/03/12 Murrow Primary School

Murrow Primary School
It was great to have Murrow Primary School back after missing a couple of years – we’ve missed you ;-)

With energy and enthusiasm to spare, we turned the lights down, the ultra violet lights and music up and a little dancing ensued!

James M took the Easter Challenge trophy home with his high score of 120, so well done James.

But should we have a teachers Easter Challenge? Murrow Head Teacher Mr Cuthbertson scored 134 points today and I’d love to see him against maybe St Peters Junior School’s Mr Linney and West Walton School’s Mr Pearson.  Would that be good?

Back to today – although there is quite a bit of work involved in the Challenge, when many of the pupils walked up to me during their bowling and said ‘thank you’, I didn’t quite have tear in my eye but did have a big smile.

We hope to see Mr Cuthbertson, his teachers and pupils again in 2013.

22/03/12 Maple Grove Infant School

One of the benefits of supporting the local community through events such as the Easter Challenge is developing relationships which builds trust, exchanging ideas, etcetera. Maple Grove school have been with us for 5 years, always keen to take part and must be a great school for teachers because they’ve been coming for 5 years too –  or does Mrs Quince pay them lots :-)

Maple Grove School_Sarah Jane, Mrs Lenton & Maxi

To the bowling and many of the highest scores we’ve seen so far, including the highest to beat Angel of Burrowmoor School’s 147 (sorry Angel, maybe next year).

Group 2 winner was Maxi with 138 points the winner but the winner by a country mile (and a broken arm!) was Sarah Jane with 164 points – that’s massive!

We’ve still two schools to go, Murrow tomorrow and Westwood Junior School next week, and I hope they get some good scores but feel maybe the School Trophy could be heading to Maple Grove School this year?

22/03/12 St Peters Church of England Junior School

It was great to see Mr Linney again but I did forget to ask him a question; how much was the transfer fee from Westwood School to St Peters School?  I’m sure it was lots!

St Peters Junior School_group 1
St Peters Junior School_group 2
Anyway, it was great to have St Peters at the Easter Challenge for the first time. Group 1 winner was Kyle with 110 points and Group 2 winner was Emile with 110, bet they couldn’t do that again!

Both pupils and teachers were great especially Mr Tony Goodbowler(!) and we hope to see you again for next years Challenge.

21/03/12  West Walton Primary School

West Walton School’s Connor scored 135 points last year which ensured he won a trophy for himself and the Best School trophy too.

West Walton School

But this year he couldn’t beat Samuel who scored 117 points and took the trophy home.  Which means that because Angel of Burrowmoor School has already scored 147 points, we need the School Trophy back please Mr Pearson!

It was great to see West Walton school again because they’ve been with us since the first year of the Challenge and we hope they’ll return next year to challenge for the trophy, assuming they’ve found it by then :-)

19/03/12 Ramnoth Junior School

It was great to welcome Ramnoth Junior School today for what I think is their 5th Easter Challenge – yes 5th, I’m pretty sure they’ve been with us since it’s inception. New teachers and assistants though, led by a very efficient Louise accompanied by Mr Dawson.

Ramonth Junior School

Onto the Ten Pin Bowling and could the 54 pupils beat last years high score of 115 set by Agata?

Yes! Rhianna proved that good things come in small sizes to score 124 points and take home Ramnoth Junior School’s trophy for 2012.

We hope they enjoyed their Challenge and hope they’ll make it back in 2013 for their 6th year.

16/03/12 Guyhirn Primary School

We’ve had the pleasure of Guyhirn School’s Cub’s and the Tigers and today it was the Lion’s turn to take part in the Easter Challenge.

Guyhirn School_Mrs Staines

21 pupils and their teachers did their best to beat the Tigers class Beatrice.

Charlton was today’s winner with 110 points, so well done Charlton and thank you to Mrs Staines for braving the camera!

So to sum up we had Chloe with 93 points, Charlton with 110 points but this year Guyhirn Primary School’s Easter Challenge winner was Beatrice with 115 points.

Everyone at Play2Day hopes you all enjoyed your Ten Pin Bowling and looks forward to seeing you again in 2013!

13/03/12 Burrowmoor Primary School

It was Burrowmoor School’s second Easter Challenge and before we go any further I must say thank you to Becky (or Miss Stimson if you’re a pupil reading this) for help with the arrangements.

Burrowmoor School

On with the bowling and we divided 120 pupils  into two groups.

Group 1 winner was Angel with 147 points, yes 147 points! Curtis won Group 2 with an excellent 126 points.

So Burrowmoor School’s Easter Challenge winner with a massive 147 points is Angel – well done Angel!

That’s the highest score so far and the five schools still to play are going to find beating 147 points a BIG challenge.

It was the Cubs turn today and Chloe won the Easter Challenge trophy with 93 points.  That means Beatrice is still Guyhirn School’s highest scorer with 115  but 25 Tigers are due on Friday 16th of March will she remain at the top?

01/03/12 Guyhirn Primary School

Guyhirn School_Lions Class

Guyhirn School commenced the Challenge with 27 pupils and 6 teachers.  Sam was the highest scoring teacher with 100, but it was Beatrice who took the trophy home with 115 points – well done Beatrice!

09/03/2012 Terrington St John Primary School

It was great to have Terrington St John school take part in their first Easter Challenge.

And they didn’t just take part either, they achieved the highest score so far with 131 points!

Molly was the big scorer and if her score remains the highest at the end of the Challenge I’ll take the 2012 school trophy to her school too.

The Easter Challenge is an annual event now in it’s fifth year.

It’s free and fun so get your school to join in.  Call us on  01945 450629 or go towww.play2day.biz to find out more about the Easter ChallengeIndoor Children’s Playand Lazer-Tag too.

10 schools are taking part in our annual Easter Challenge this year:  Guyhirn, Leverington, Terrington St. John, Burrowmoor, Ramnoth Road, West Walton, St. Peters Juniors, Maple Grove and Murrow.

08/03/2012 Leverington Academy

Today Leverington Academy brought approximately 180 pupils in three groups.

The first group comprised Classes 2 and 4 and the winner with 120 points was Devon (photo’d with his trophy and friends).  But he had to beat Darcy (with the same score) in quick bowl-off competition to get his hands on the trophy.

The next group comprised Classes 5 and 1 and this time the winner with 123 points was Cameron (just in case you’re wondering it’s Miss Key and not Cameron in the photo.

But it was Jack from Leverington Academy’s final group, comprising Classes 6 and 3, who beat both Devon and Cameron’s scores with an impressive 128 – well done Jack!

We enjoyed having Leverington Academy at Play2Day and hope they’ll join our Easter Challenge in 2013.

01/03/2012 Guyhirn Primary School
